with technology enhanced fluency and comprehension interventions.
|
||||
Goal:
To implement technology enhanced lessons into tier 3 interventions in
reading fluency and comprehension, and to increase student motivation during
these individualized instructional lessons.

THE END

Increasing student motivation through technology is a great action research topic. Using technology is a step in the right direction because it's the key to our students' success in the future. Your set-up is very straight forward. Good luck and looking forward to read your findings!
ReplyDeleteHannah,
ReplyDeleteThis looks so wonderful and laid out very well! I love how specific it all is. How many do you think is in your target population? Do you know if these students already have a good handle on technology (i.e. have computers/technology at home)? Is what your planning on using in the classroom something they could access at home if possible for even more parent support?
My target population will be my tier 3 students. These students will have a good handle on using basic technology programs and applications. Yes, they will be able to use some of these programs at home.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your response!
Great start Hannah. I see that you are using your Tier 3 students. About how many students is this? Are they all in one grade level or various grade levels? I agree that motivation is key...and we know students are motivated by technology.
ReplyDeleteThere are about 20 in the grade level. But, I will be focusing on only my class and another grade level's tier III students.
ReplyDeleteI always wanted technology for my action research plan but since I am currently substituting right now, that did not work for me. Kids these days are technology savvy so this is very interesting for me and I will definitely follow your blog.
ReplyDeleteNice action plan Hannah, this looks great! Education and technology goes together like peanut butter and jelly and to use the two to motivate students; I think the result will be amazing. Can't wait to see.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on your plan! I started using my iPad in the classroom. The students love it! Will you be using an iPad or a computer based program? I like that you are concentrating on the Tier 3 students to help increase motivation and academic improvement. I look forward to following your blog. I like your blog background, how did you do this?

DeleteThis girl has tons of different designs that you can cut and paste in your blog! :)
Nice plan. Very detailed and made me wonder if I need to go back and adjust my plan. Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteHannah, your plan looks like you followed the 8 steps in putting it together. Fluency is a great topic which will have a great impact and will benefit many around you. Using technology will make reading fun and help to engage students which is awesome. I am looking forward to seeing what your findings are.
ReplyDeleteHannah, The only question I had was that you plan to student survey to identify what they were motivated by throughout the technology enhanced interventions in August 2013. But you are not going to present this information until June 2014. Why are you waiting so long to present the information to your group? Everything seems great just curious about time delay.
ReplyDeleteJames,
Deletehaha... good point! I will be sharing my information at the end of this school year to my site supervisor. Then, I planned on extending this into the next school year and examine how this will work in a different grade level. That's why there is is a longer deadline at the end.
Hannah,
ReplyDeleteI think the timeline is great! I like that you're extending it through next year. I think it's best to start the bulkier part of this kind of study at the beginning of the year, and see it through an entire school year! It sounds exciting! I hope you find some helpful information! You listed "Technology based literature"...Maybe you could list some specific articles, libraries you are intending to use? I don't know how detailed they want these plans...Good luck!
This looks like a great plan and a very interesting research question. My action research topic is over the effectiveness of the program Istation. I saw you said that your campus is about to obtain this program as well. I would love to know whether Istation or paper based reading interventions are best. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress!
ReplyDeleteThis looks amazing and I look forward to seeing what apps and games you use with your intervention kiddos! I would love to share them with my tier 3 kids and share your findings and research with my team!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog, it is super cute. Your action research plan looks great. It is easy to read and follow and very detailed. I think that looking at motivation and technology is a great idea since students are becoming more and more technology dependent. I think that surveying students at the end of the year is a great way to collect data. Good luck with your research.
ReplyDeleteJust happened to come upon this blog! That picture is hilarious! I love dessert.
ReplyDeletehahaha! I love that you said you loved dessert at 5 in the morning! me too....
